Manufactured solution verification of the Ceptre code

Description

We conduct verification tests of the CEPTRE (Coupled Electron-Photon Transport for Radiation Effects) transport code by means of the method of manufactured solutions. We examine two types of problems: ones whose solution should be exactly calculated by CEPTRE without discretization errors, and others whose discretization error is related to the spatial mesh refinement. We confirm that CEPTRE exactly calculates (ignoring roundoff error) solutions that are representable by the finite element basis functions used by CEPTRE. For those problems whose solutions are not representable by the basis functions we observe error convergence rates consistent with the finite element discretization. (authors)
