Optimization of parameters of precipitation study of trivalent actinide with oxalic acid at spent fuel reprocessing plant

  • 1. Nuclear Recycle Board, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Tarapur (India)

Description

Oxalate anion has long been recognized as an excellent precipitating agent for actinides separation. This paper reports oxalate precipitation study of AmIII in neutral and varying Nitric acidic conditions of stock with varying concentration of oxalic acid and at different temperature Stock solution containing 520 µg of AmIII was used for the study. Oxalic acid in different concentration of 0.5M, 1.5M and 2.0M solution were used to precipitate actinide oxalate. Supernatant AmIII activity was measured using HPGe detector
