Multi-bunch instability in linear colliders

Creators

Description

General scaling laws indicate that multi-bunch operation is necessary in a 1 TeV+1 TeV linear collider unless we use a high repetition linac of several kHz. Transverse instability is studied by a multi-particle model with is a generalization of the two-particle model. Landau damping is shown to be effective even in a multi-bunch case if the betatron frequencies of the bunches are different from each other
