Radioactive liquid cleanup device

Description

A pump unit and an activated carbon filter are placed on a cart. Pool water in a pool for storing structural components of a power plant contaminated by radioactivity is connected with the cart by a pressure resisting hose. Then, the filter main body is sunk in the pool water and the pump is operated. If the filter is clogged, the flow rate is decreased and the pump is automatically stopped. When the pump stops automatically or the dose rate at the surface of the filter exceeds a predetermined level, the filter is hung up and set to the cart. With such procedures, increase of the dose rate of circumstances during operation can be suppressed since radioactivity accumulated to the filter is suppressed because the pool water itself acts as a shielding material.
