Development of the Shimadzu single photon emission computed tomograph for head, SET-031

  • 1. Shimadzu Corp., Kyoto (Japan)

Description

The Shimadzu Single Photon Emission Computed Tomograph for Head, SET-031, has been developed. The SET-031, a practical and compact version, is a successor of the SET-030 (HEADTOME II), and features a compact design and ease-of-operation. It comprises three detector rings of 420 mm in diameter on which 64 NaI crystals are arranged per ring, 192 in total. Two kinds of collimators are provided: high sensitivity collimator (HS) and high resolution collimator (HR). The collimators can be selected by manual operation. Spatial resolution at the center of the field of view is 20 mm for HS and 11 mm for HR respectively. The system sensitivity for sup(99m)Tc is, 30 kcps/μCi/ml by HS and 7 kcps/μCi/ml by HR collimator. The SET-031 can be used for quantitative study of tomographic rCBF with 133Xe inhalation method. This study cannot be made by an ECT using a scintillation camera detector. High quality images have been obtained by sup(99m)Tc, 123I and 111In. (author)
