The performance of the electricity distribution business -England and Wales, 1971-1993

Description

A comprehensive and accessible analysis is presented of the productivity and efficiency of the United Kingdom electricity distribution companies, between the years 1971 and 1993. During this period, the electricity regulator was undertaking a review of changes in the industry. As the European Community develops its policy of international power distribution networks, the evaluation of comparative efficiency of the distribution systems of Member States will become increasingly important. Models developed in this paper will be of assistance in establishing appropriate future energy policies. (UK)
