Description
Objectives of major importance and equipment installed in such objectives must be qualified to various conditions including external conditions (earthquakes, shocks, vibrations). SERB-SITON solution for the qualification by isolation of cabinets that include serial components is adequate since the SERB-SITON devices have the capability to cut-off the dynamic actions to values below the values imposed for usual sites. Our seismic qualification solution for electric and I and C cabinets was developed and applied in 3 alternatives which show the following advantages: - It increases the safety degree for the cabinets installed on the sites affected by extreme events such as earthquakes, shocks, vibrations, etc; - The components installed inside the cabinets need not be qualified for extreme dynamic load conditions because by cabinet isolation the dynamic actions on the components and cabinet structure are lower than the ones imposed for the usual assemblies (without seismic actions, without vibrations, etc); - SERB-SITON devices may be applied to new and existing rehabilitated cabinets without interrupting the electrical connections with the system they are embedded in; - The maximum acceleration in a seismically isolated cabinet ranges between 0.05 g and maximum 0.2 g, depending on the isolation device type and irrespective of the magnitude of the maximum acceleration applied to the cabinet foundation during an earthquake; - The standard components installed into the cabinets qualified at shocks and vibrations for values which are usually higher than 0.5 g, will stay operational as per the guarantees given by the instrument manufacturer, with the safety margin ranging between 0.45 g and 0.3 g; - The numerical analyses combined with the experimental determinations showed that the equipment (cabinets) installed in I and C cabinets for the protection and operation of H2S compressors in the isotopic exchange installations in ROMAG PROD Drobeta Turnu Severin, will remain operational during an earthquake that may occur in Drobeta Turnu Severin area with a recurrence interval of 100 year corresponding to a higher class of seismic zoning so providing continuous operation of the cabinet assembly.
