Experimental study on double-row of bubbles movement characteristics in water in sloshing condition

  • 1. Fundamental Science on Nuclear Safety and Simulation Technology Laboratory, Harbin Engineering University, Heilongjiang (China)

Description

Experimental research on double-row of bubbles movement characteristics in sloshing condition is carried out. An experimental system is designed and set up, bubble behavior in sloshing condition is recorded with high speed camera, bubbles velocity and trajectory are obtained from experimental images. Comparing bubbles parameters under different conditions, it is found that two rows of bubbles influence each other by vortex structures formed during their rising process, trajectories of double-row bubbles are axisymmetric shaped and have a tendency of becoming close-apart-close in stationary conditions. While trajectories have almost the same shape in sloshing condition since the additional inertia force and change of flow field induced by sloshing weaken the interaction between two rows of bubbles. Bubbles horizontal velocity in sloshing condition fluctuates wildly and the maximum peak velocity is greater than that in static water, which is mainly caused by free surface fluctuations in sloshing condition.
