Dynamic analysis considering the stiffness of the foundation by using the infinite element

  • 1. Taisei Corp., Tokyo (Japan). Nuclear Facilities Engineering Dept.

Description

When we design the nuclear power plants, it is important to consider the soil-structure interaction effects. In the present time, there are some numerical procedures to evaluate the response analysis considering the soil-structure interaction. In many of them, it is assumed that the base mat is rigid and that input motion is estimated at one point. But in reality, the base mat has the stiffness and the width in plain. In this paper, the finite element analyses were performed using the infinite element to take into account the stiffness of the base mat. (orig.)
