Efficient removal of Sr(II) from aqueous solutions by magnesium titanate: a radiotracer study

Description
Adsorption of Sr2+ on magnesium titanate has been studied as a function of pH, concentration and temperature. Increase in concentration and pH of the bulk solution favours the uptake process. A gradual decrease in percentage adsorption was obtained with increase in temperature. Equilibrium sorption data were found to follow Freundlich isotherm. Presence of diverse ions does not appreciably affect the amount of Sr(II) adsorbed. Irradiation of the adsorbent with a nominal dose of neutrons and gamma rays indicates its stability towards radiation damage. (author). 5 refs
