Development of integrated nuclear plant piping system: INUPPS

Description

In recent years, design and construction of a nuclear power plant is characterized by its voluminous work extending over a long period on account of the increasingly stringent requirements focused on productivity to keep ''just in time'' schedule in construction together with both safety and availability of the plant. In order to increase productivity in line with high quality, the Integrated Nuclear Plant Piping System (INUPPS) has been developed and made available to complex design and production control work. This system has the engineering data base in the main frame computer by which the data can be stored and used commonly for various subsystems such as design, analysis, material handling and production control. The INUPPS also includes the stand-alone CALMA CAD system that can exchange design data with the CADDIE system which has been developed and operated jointly with Toshiba Corporation of Japan and covers system design, plant layout design, etc. (author)
