Unified electron temperature characteristics in Ne and He positive columns

  • 1. Institute of Physical and Chemical Research, Wako, Saitama (Japan)

Description

The cylindrical positive column theory was renewed by using the boundary velocity of charged particles defined by Friedman, et al. This theory is extended to cases of not neglecting the Frost effect which means that a radially variable positive ion mobility is included in the positive column theory, the effect of metastable atoms ionization and furthermore binary-mixtured gas. The electron temperature characteristics based upon this theory were calculated for Ne and He gases. These results may be useful for an investigation of the He-Ne laser plasmas. (Auth.)
