Description
Contributions to the series resistance from resistive emitters and their contacts have been investigated for square and circular diodes with edge emitter contacts. A perimeter contact on a circular diode produces a contribution of (Rsh/25) to the series resistance Rs at frequencies below (4πRsCD)-1 where Rsh, CD are the emitter sheet resistance and the depletion capacitance. The signal/noise can be significantly degraded by the increase in series electronic noise. Ballistic deficit introduces a smaller degradation in resolution. (orig.)
