Neutron irradiation effect on the third order elasticity moduli in aluminium

Description

The effect of neutron irradiation and the following isochronous annealing on the third order elasticity moduli (TOEM) in commercial aluminium is investigated. It is stated that irradiaton results in essential (∼ 2 times) decrease of TOEM absolute value. During the following isochronous annealing in the 300-450 K temperature range TOEM change to initial value takes place, therewith a series of maxima and minima is observed on TOEM dependence on temperature. Basing on representations on dislocation Pinning to complexes of intrinsic interstitial atoms (IIA) and dislocation effect on TOEM the energies of vacancies migration by crystal volume and energies of IIA coupling with impurity atoms in a volume are estimated
