The effect of Br- ligand field of Osub(h) symmetry on 5f orbitals. Spectroscopic and magnetic properties of the U4+ ion in a complex compound /(C2H5)4N/2 UBr6

Description
Electronic spectra of /(C2H5)4N/2UBr6 in nitromethane solution and in solid state habe been investigated. Absorption bands have been assigned to respective quantum states of the U4+ (5f2) ion in an Osub(h) ligand field. The calculated values of the f orbital splittings are Δ = 766 cm-1 and THETA = 2479 cm-1. Magnetic susceptibility is very slightly temperature dependent (77-295 K). (author)
