Description

Nanotechnology has been receiving a special attention in the academic, industrial and strategic sectors of Brazil and the world, being appointed as one of the most promising sectors for new discoveries and conquest. In order to obtain nanocomposites it is necessary the interaction formation between the clay and the polymer, which is very difficult to the polyethylene apolar molecules. The solution found to increase this interaction and then to improve the nanocomposites properties. Was the use of functionalized polyethylenes with polar groups and of the percentage of the ammonium salt in the organophilization. With this objective, two types of functionalized polyethylenes were used as compatibilizing agent of the systems, being an alternative for the production of PE/organoclay nanocomposites. X-ray Diffraction technique was used to characterize the morphology and analyze expansion level of obtained clays as well the exfoliation level of the developed systems. (author)
