Description
The Brazilian participation in the research project on nuclear data for production of therapeutic radionuclides, coordinated by the International Atomic Energy Agency, is commented. The production of six radioisotopes 9039 Y, 10346 Pd, 12553 I, 14961 Pm, 15362 Sm and 18875 Re, used in cancer diagnosis and treatment, through the neutron capture reaction is discussed. The available nuclear data libraries evaluations were compared with experimental data and with the newly accepted values of the thermal capture cross section and the capture resonance integral. New evaluated nuclear data files with covariance matrix that better represent the agreement with experimental and integral quantities were recommended. (author)
