Investigation of alloy-formation during hafnium electrodeposition from melt on steel and graphite substrates

Description
Alloy-formation during hafnium electrodeposition on the steel substrates St3, Y10 and on cathods from spectrum-pure graphite and SU-2000 glassy carbon is investigated. Equimolar mixture of NaCl-KCl containing 10 mass% of K2HfF6 and 5 mass% of NaF was used as melt. It is shown that a hafnium carbide barrier layer, preventing mutual diffusion process, is formed between a substrate and hafnium coating by hafnium electrodeposition
