Study of the Na-C-O and Na-H-O ternary systems in the sodium rich corner
Description
The purpose of this study is to provide a contribution to the understanding of the sodium - carbon - oxygen and sodium - hydrogen - oxygen ternary systems in the sodium rich corner. In order to do this the Na-NaH-Na2O-NaOH phase diagram was completed and the Na-Na2O-Na2CO3-C phase diagram was outlined. This work is made up of two parts. The first is devoted to a critical literature survey essential to establish correct phase diagrams. The second is an experimental study followed by a discussion collating our finding to the literary data. The basic experimental technique used is differential thermal analysis (DTA) but it has been completed by quenching, X-ray and chemical analysis methods. The proposed phase diagrams imply that Na-NaH-Na2O-NaOH and Na-Na2O-Na2CO3-C systems are reciprocal ternary systems. Temperatures of stable pairs reversal are respectively 410 and 6900C. The stable pairs are Na-NaOH and Na-Na2CO3 at elevated temperature, Na2O-NaH and Na2O-C at low temperature

Le but de cette etude est d'apporter une contribution a la comprehension des systemes ternaires sodium-carbone-oxygene et sodium-hydrogene-oxygene dans la partie riche en sodium. Pour ce faire, nous avons corrige et complete le diagramme de phases du systeme Na-NaH-Na2O-NaOH et commence l'etablissement de celui du systeme Na-Na2O-Na2CO3-C. Ce travail comporte deux parties. La premiere est consacree a une etude bibliographique et theorique indispensable pour l'etablissement de diagramme de phases corrects. La seconde est constituee par une etude experimentale suivie d'une discussion confrontant nos observations aux donnees bibliographiques et theoriques. La technique experimentale de base utilisee est l'analyse thermique differentielle (ATD) mais elle a ete completee par des trempes, des analyses par diffraction des rayons X et des analyses chimiques. Les diagrammes de phases que nous proposons impliquent que les systemes Na-NaH-Na2O-NaOH et Na-Na2O-Na2CO3-C sont des systemes ternaires reciproques dont les temperatures d'inversion des couples stables sont respectivement 410 et 6900C.
