Description

The role of NIREX (the Nuclear Industry Radioactive Waste Executive) in planning for the disposal of intermediate level waste and low level waste is explained. An inventory of such wastes in the UK is given and future arisings are estimated. Radioactive waste disposal routes currently available in the UK are described. The need for NIREX to increase these disposal facilities and plans for future operations are discussed. (U.K.)
