Gravitational radiation from strings

Description
Strings in the early universe lose their energy primarily by gravitational radiation. Numerical calculations were done to obtain the rate of energy loss from various string configuration and was found to be -- 100 times larger than previous estimates. This allows us to estimate the present gravitational radiation background. Loops of strings also radiate momentum and may get boosted to relativistic velocities
