The calibration of the ZEUS forward drift chamber: An application for software with a high degree of parallelism
Description
This paper reviews the software requirements for a drift chamber which is difficult to calibrate by measurements only. The numerical solution of the appropriate mathematical equations, i.e. the Poisson equation respectively the Boltzmann transport equation, is very time consuming. Fast algorithms and a high degree of parallelism are necessary to reach the accuracy demanded. (orig.)
