Determination of the averaged cross-section of the 79Br(n,α)76As reaction in a fission neutron spectrum

Description
The 79Br(n,α)76As reaction cross-section, averaged over a fission spectrum was determined and found to be 0.0162+-0.0019 mb. It was used to estimate the error due to the presence of bromine in the activation analysis of arsenic performed in reactors. The experimental procedure is described and the results are discussed.
