Leaching of technetium from foliage by simulated rain

  • 1. Louvain Univ. (Belgium)

Description

Leaching may be an important pathway in the food chain transfer of technetium, which varies with the level of contamination of the plant material. Part of the technetium is fixed on cell walls and part remains available for leaching. In leachates, technetium is mainly but not entirely in the anionic form (TcO4-). Tomato plants were used for this study. (U.K.)
