Impurity influence on the mechanical and photoluminescence properties of ZnTe monocrystals

Description

Investigation of the effect of impurity type and concentration on some physical properties of ZnTe monocrystals has been carried out. Crystal doping has been performed by the addition of impurities to the initial sample. Imputrity concentration has been controlled by the method of spectral analysis. All the crystals studied were homogeneous and had a sphalerite structure. The comparison of measured values of the ZnTe monocrystal microhardness has shown that when introducing impurities, the effect of strengthening is observed. The ZnTe crystal photoluminescence was measured on the same samples. The microhardness-concentration curve shape is similar. This fact may be regarded as a proof of the conclusion that the same defects are responsible for the both effects. These defects appear in crystals at their doping with impurities
