Effects of fuel tolerances on the operation data of a fast breeder reactor

Uncertainties and tolerances, as well as a statistic method for assessing these in the context of an uncertainty analysis are described. The influence of the corresponding tolerance margins on the uncertainty factors and hence on the characteristic operational parameters of the core, as well as on fuel cycle costs are given. The calculated uncertainty factors enable one to assign the tolerance-dependent costs and operational data to a non-exceeding probability of the permissible limiting values. They thus enable an assessment of a fast breeder particularly concerning its economy. (orig.)
