Ce livre a ete edite a l'occasion de la celebration du cinquantenaire de la decouverte de la radioactivite artificielle; il rassemble des contributions d'hommes ayant ete proches des Joliot au debut de la radioactivite artificielle, ou dont l'oeuvre a ete marquee par cette decouverte. Les auteurs ont choisi eux-memes tres librement leurs sujets, d'ou leur grande diversite. Le lecteur trouvera de precieux souvenirs de temoins directs de cette grande epoque; il trouvera aussi des descriptions de travaux qui ont suivi la decouverte initiale, une vue synthetique des applications dans tel ou tel domaine; il trouvera meme des reves hardis sur des possibilites d'utilisation de la matiere, qui peu-etre surgiront demainAdditional details
