Verification of the KESS-III code using the out-of-pile experiment CORA-2
Description
In this report the work concerning the verification of the KESS-III Code using CORA-experiments, which were performed at the Kernforschungszentrum Karlsruhe, was started. To ensure a comprehensive verification of the code system, the essential phases (heat-up of the bundle and degradation phase) of PWR-specific CORA experiments were analyzed and the significant phenomena were worked out. A detailed analysis of the CORA-2 experiment, which the experimentators performed as a reference test, yielded necessary information for the adaption of the KESS-Code. Calculations performed with the code system after modelling of the CORA-specific conditions delivers results which were compared with the experimental measurements. The discrepancies between the model results and the experimentl data showed that further adjustments especially with respect to the thermohydraulic boundary conditions are indispensable. Furthermore the available models of the KESS-III Code OXID and CANDLE, which describe the zircon water reaction and melt relocation at a single rod, were proved using the CORA-2 experiment. (orig.)

In diesem Bericht werden die ersten Ergebnisse aus den Untersuchungen zur Verifikation des KESS-III-Codes anhand von den am Kernforschungszentrum Karlsruhe durchgefuehrten CORA-Experimenten dargestellt. Um eine umfassende Verifikation des Gesamtcodes zu ermoeglichen, wurden die wichtigsten Phasen (Buendelaufheizung- und zerstoerung) der DWR-spezifischen CORA-Experimente analysiert und die signifikanten Phaenomene herausgearbeitet. Eine detaillierte Analyse des CORA-2 Experiments, das von den Experimentatoren als Referenztest durchgefuehrt wurde, liefert die erforderlichen Informationen, um die Anlage und den Versuchsablauf adaequat beschreiben zu koennen. Die nach erfolgter Anpassung an die versuchsspezifischen Bedingungen durchgefuehrten Gesamtcoderechnungen konnten mit den ersten Ergebnissen der Versuchsdaten verglichen werden. Die Diskrepanzen zwischen Ergebnissen dieser Modellrechnungen und den experimentellen Daten zeigen, dass weitergehende Anpassungen insbesondere bezueglich der thermohydraulischen Randbedingungen notwendig sind. Ferner werden die im KESS-III zur Verfuegung stehenden Teilmodelle OXID und CANDLE, die die Zirkon-Wasser-Reaktion und die Schmelzeverlagerung am Einzelstab beschreiben, mit Hilfe des CORA-2 Experiments ueberprueft.
