On the production of radioactive molybdenum trioxide ultrafine aerosols

  • 1. Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft zur Foerderung der Angewandten Forschung e.V., Grafschaft/Hochsauerland (F.R. Germany). Inst. fuer Aerobiologie

Description

Molybdenum trioxide (Mo03-99Mo03) was prepared by heating solid ammonium paramolybdate in a quartz lined tubular furnace, following the procedure outlined by Spurny et al (Coll.Czech.Chem.Comm.;30:507(1965)). The molybdenum trioxide prepared in this way was then used for the production of radioactive condensation nuclei, by means of the same apparatus. The size of the aerosol was estimated by means of diffusion techniques. The effect of furnace temperature on the radioactivity of the aerosol, and on its size, is shown. (U.K.)
