A γ-ray Compton scattering study of charge transfer in amorphous metal-metalloid alloys
- 1. Tohoku Univ., Sendai (Japan). Research Inst. for Iron, Steel and Other Metals
Description
Based on experimental observations of γ-ray Compton scattering profiles, it has been concluded that 3d electrons in Fe atoms participate in the formation of a chemical bonding with 2p electrons of B atoms in Fe-B amorphous alloy, while a part of valence electrons in P atoms are transferred to 3d holes of Co and Ni atoms in Co-P and Ni-P amorphous alloys.
