Properties of conductive strontium cerium manganate ceramics

Description
Perovskite materials with nonstoichiometric compositions Sr0.9Ce0.1MnO3, Sr0.8Ce0.2MnO3, Sr0.7Ce0.3MnO3, Sr0.9Ce0.1Mn2+0.3Mn4+0.7O3 were synthesized and investigated. The optimal sintering temperatures for these ceramics were established in the range 1400-1460oC. As shown by X-ray diffraction analysis, monophase products were obtained as a result of the reaction. Resistivities of the samples were measured as a function of temperature in the range 20-900oC. Thermal expansion coefficients were determined in the temperature range 20-900oC. Owing to a low resistivity (5.4 - 6.6 mΩcm at 820oC) and a good compatibility of the thermal expansion coefficients of the perovskite ceramics and solid electrolyte (yttria stabilized zirconia) the developed materials seem to be good candidates for electrodes of solid state cells.
