Start of feasibility studies on commercialized fast breeder reactor system
Description
Development of FBR (Fast Breeder Reactor) was discussed by the Atomic Energy Commission of Japan in 1997 and the FBR cycle system was constructed. The objects of FBR cycle system contain safety, economy, environmental conservation, resources securing and non-proliferation of nuclear materials. Development of feasibility studies on commercialized FBR system is stated. FBR system was discussed on the view point of energy security of Japan and environmental conservation for generation of radioactive waste. Investigation of FBR system and fuel cycle system are stated. The state and future of international cooperation of studies was explained by the cooperation between Japan and other country such as U.S.A, Russia, England, French, Switzerland and Germany, and on GEN-IV and International Project on Innovative Nuclear Reactors and Fuel Cycles.
