Peculiarities of limited texture formation in layers deposited by oblique molecular beams

Creators

Description

Vacuum condensates formed on neutral bases by inclined molecular films are investigated. The texture of Mo, Ni and ZrC condensates is studied by constructing pole figures. The type of limited texture is found to depend on the relative role of the oblique and perpendicular axial components of the texture, the inclination of the axis of this texture depending not only on the angle of incidence of the molecular beam, but also on the supersaturation and depth of the condensate. An explanation is found for the appearance of high intensity texture where the angles between the axes of the axial components do not agree. An analogy is found between the textures of condensates of b.c.c. metals and those of metals and compounds with an f.c.c. lattice
