Description

Discussed is a possibility of spectrometric experiments using heavy particle beams with electron cooling in storage rings with superthin internal targets. The internal targets can be made as thin films, filaments, gaseous or vapour jets, low energy high-current ion beams. Evaluated parameters of the spectrometric storage ring with electron cooling of 2x1031 cmxs-1 luminosity with a 816O circulating ion beam, 1.4x10-6 g/cm2 thick 82208Pb target are presented. The investigation results on electron cooling using direct acceleration of an electron beam permit to use electron cooling in the ion energy range from MeV to 1-2 GeV per nucleon. It is suggested to use electron cooling by circulating electron beam to increase energy up to a ten of GeV. The stochastic cooling method permits to reach higher energies
