Isolated tuberculous lesions in the ilium and their differential diagnosis

Description
Isolated tuberculous foci in the ilium are particularly rare. Over a period of 26 years (1955 to 1981) we have treated ten lesions in the ilium in our Clinic. Only two (one male, one female) were of tuberculous origin, the others consisted of non-specific osteomyelitis, one sarcoma and one lesion in a Hand-Schueller-Christian syndrome. In the discussion, the literature is reviewed concerning the frequency, features, treatment, prognosis and differential diagnosis of specific infections of the ilium. (orig.)
Abstract (German)
Isolierte tuberkuloese Herde in den Darmbeinen sind besonders selten. Innerhalb von 26 Jahren (1955 bis einschliesslich 1981) wurden in der hiesigen Klinik 10 Darmbeinprozesse operativ behandelt. Nur 2 (1 female/1 male) waren tuberkuloeser Genese, die anderen auf unspezifische Osteomyelitiden, ein Herd auf ein Sarkom und ein anderer auf eine Hand-Schueller-Christianische Erkrankung zurueckzufuehren. In der Diskussion wird anhand der einschlaegigen Literatur ueber Haeufigkeit, Klinik, Behandlung, Prognose und Differentialdiagnose spezifischer Darminfektionen berichtet. (orig.)Additional details
