Gamma-ray Spectroscopy of Strongly Deformed Bands in Neutron-rich Isotopes of Beryllium, Boron and Carbon
- 1. HMI-Berlin, 14109 Berlin (Germany)
Description
The gamma-decay properties of- neutron-rich isotopes of Beryllium ( 10,11 Be), Boron ( 10-14 B) and Carbon (14-16 C) up to and at the limits of their particle emission thresholds, where strong clustering and large deformations are expected to occur, have been studied. The experiment was performed using a 7 Li beam with an incident energy of 28 MeV on a 10 Be-target with a gold backing. The incident energy has been chosen so as to stay below the Coulomb barrier of the backing. The beam was provided by the XTU tandem accelerator at the Laboratori Nazionali di Legnaro. To select the reaction channels for γ spectroscopy the Si-ball ISIS was used in combination with the GASP array and γ-γ charged-particle coincidence were used to identify γ transitions in these isotopes.
