Parametric analysis evaluating mathematical models used to assess radiological releases from a hypothetical nonpower reactor
Description
The HAVOC computer code was developed to model radiological releases from nonpower reactors following a hypothetical accident. The code contains four dispersion models, seven dispersion sets, and the capability to correct for decay, plume rise, and depletion. For this study, we used the code to calculate the thyroid and whole-body doses to individuals exposed under varying conditions. The individuals exposed were located both within the building wake cavity and beyond it. To evaluate the sensitivity of the models to various physical parameters (that is, weather stability, dispersions, stack velocity, radius of stack, distance of receptor, and wind speed), a parametric study of these parameters was performed
