Multilayers wide gap spark chamber for a gamma telescope

Description
A twelve-layer wide gap spark chamber has been fabricated and gauged on the DESY accelerator in the positron and the ''tagged'' α-quantum beams. This chamber will be used in the big gamma ray telescope. The measurement accuracy of the 10O MeV α-quantum direction constitutes approximately 2 deg. This is considerably better than the accuracy of the SAS-2 and COS-B spark gamma ray telescopes. The γ-quantum energy measurement accuracy constitutes approximately 30%, as regards the 50-200 MeV energies
