Temperture dependence of ultrasound absorption in tungsten

  • 1. AN SSSR, Sverdlovsk. Inst. Fiziki Metallov

Description

The temperature dependence of the absorption of longitudinal and transversal ultrasound in single crystals of tungsten on propagation of elastic waves along crystallographic axes [100] and [111] has been investigated. In the temperature dependence of absorption of transversal ultrasound, there is a maximum whose existence can be explained by using theoretical ratios obtained for coefficients of ultrasound absorption, and by taking account of the presence of two types of current carriers. The values of components of the deformation potential tensor for electrons and holes are evaluated
