An electron collision spectrometer
Description
The mono-energetic electron current is space charge limited. An essential improvement is obtained by heating the entrance slit to decrease the collected charge. For indirect heating the graphite holder of the repeller can be used, which has a slit along the vertical direction and reaches through the entrance slit. The electron collision spectrometer can be used among others for the analysis of gases, of solid state surfaces and for the study of the vibrational spectra of adsorbates. (DG)

Die Hoehe des monochromatischen Stromes wird durch Raumladungseffekte begenzt. Eine wesentliche Verbesserung wird dadurch erzielt, dass die Aufladung der Eingangsblende durch Erwaermung derselben herabgesetzt ist. Fuer die indirekte Aufheizung eignet sich der Graphittraeger des Repellers, der in seiner gesamten vertikalen Laenge aufgeschlitzt ist und durch die Oeffnung der Eingangsblende hindurchreicht. Das Elektronenstossspektrometer kann u.a. zur Analyse von Gasen, Festkoerperoberflaechen und Schwingungsspektron von Adsorbaten eingesetzt werden. (DG)Files
