Acceleration of charged particles by a plasma wave excited by electron beam in a layered plasma

Description

Acceleration of charged particles by plasma wave, excited by electron beam periodeically heterogeneous plasma waveguide is investigated. Physical situation, when dense in general case modulated by density beam with particle relatively low energy (γ10 >or approx. 1, γ10-relativistic factor) is in parametric Cherenkov resonance with plasma wave. Plasma waveguide, formed by radius a conducting case, which is completely filled with plasma is considered. Plasma waveguide is placed in the external magnetic field which force lines are parallel to the system axis. Plasma density changes along the waveguide axis according to the periodical law. Maximal energy of the acclerated particles is attained at 24 cm distance at 2 MeV/cm accelerating field average value at npo=5x1014 cm-3 plasma density and 80 kA beam current. In this case heterogeneity necessary period constitutes 2.4 cm
