Description

MicroWaveLab is a commercial software package that is used for design of RF and microwave components. The finite-element method is used to solve the frequency-domain Maxwell equations in 3-D volumes containing isotropic and/or anisotropic media. Edge elements are employed to avoid spurious modes, and several different element topologies have been implemented. The finite-element matrix is solved via either LU decomposition or a conjugate-gradient iterative method. Another approach is available wherein the total fields due to an excitation are expanded in terms of the 3-D eigenmodes of the structure. MicroWaveLab has geometry creation capabilities based on the ACIS solid geometry kernel, and pre- and postprocessing support for network parameters and antennas. copyright 1997 American Institute of Physics
