The effect of the high pressure on the amorphous state preservation and the crystallization in Al-Ni-Y alloy
- 1. Central-South Univ. of Technology, Hunan (China). Powder Metallurgy Research Inst.
Description
Full amorphous Al85Ni10Y5 small powder deposition plates were consolidated with a hexahedral apparatus under different temperature and pressure. The experiments show that under the pressure of 6GPa for 3 minutes, the Al85Ni10Y5 samples maintained the amorphous state only if the temperature is not higher than 325C; the sample consolidated at 390C contained a trace of crystalline phase. Consolidated at 325C, 450C, 520C under the pressure of 1,3.6 GPa , with the pressure increasing and the temperature decreasing. the amorphous state preservation improved. The crystallizing sequence is amorphous to supersaturated α-Al then to equilibrium α-Al plus YAl3 etc. compounds. With the pressure increasing from 1 GPa to 3 Gpa, 6 GPa, the density of sample consolidated at temperature higher than 325 C usually decreased for the sake of the amorphous state preservation
