Investigation of rupture surfaces in expert evaluation problems

Description

Methods for the determination of failure causes in industrial equipment are reviewed: visual examination, dimensioning, optical microscopy, scanning or transmission electron microscopy, replicas, electron or X-ray diffraction, Auger spectrometry. These techniques are illustrated by examples: An experimental model of sodium-water heat exchanger in alloy 800, a sodium-sodium heat exchanger in steel 316L, cracks in a sodium mixer for temperature equalization

On passe en revue les methodes d'examen des causes d'avaries d'appareils industriels: examen visuel, releves dimensionels microscopie optique ou electronique, repliques, diffraction X ou d'electrons et Auger spectrometrie. Ces techniques sont illustrees par des exemples: une maquette d'echangeur sodium-eau, un echangeur sodium-sodium et la fissuration d'un melangeur de sodium
