Description

Comparison of individual gamma doses assessed by CaSO4:Dy Teflon disc based officially recognized TLD badge and the integrated individual dose assessed by the quartz fiber Direct Reading Dosemeter (DRD) over the same monitoring period, is being practiced for identification and investigation of unacceptable dose differences, the unacceptable difference being defined by the report of the task group on TLD-DRD dose discrepancy. The discrepancy investigation not only helped in assigning correct individual dose but also has led to detection of hot spots, abnormal radiation field, deficiency in work practices, problem in dosimetry etc. The overall improvement in radiation protection practices and dosimetry along with reduction in individual dose necessitated revision of discrepancy identification criteria. The paper presents the work carried in this direction
