New possibilities in the application of Moessbauer spectroscopy

  • 1. Jozsef Attila Tudomanyegyetem, Szeged (Hungary). Szervetlen es Analitikai Kemiai Tanszek

Description

A semi-quantitative method based on the calculation of partial quadrupole splitting for complex compounds containing Moessbauer atom as the central atom is discussed. Comparing experimental and calculated quadrupole data the configuration and the coordination number of complexes (e.g. organic tin compounds) can be estimated. Moessbauer spectroscopy can be successfully applied in the determination of the structure of solutions. Two different techniques to avoid nuclear recoil processes and to allow Moessbauer spectroscopic investigations were studied: deep-freezing of solutions and fixation of liquids in the pores of special glasses.
