35 MeV electron linear accelerator at University of Tokyo

  • 1. Tokyo Univ. (Japan). Faculty of Engineering

Description

A 35 MeV electron linear accelerator and attached experimental facilities have been constructed at the Tokai Nuclear Engineering Research Laboratory of University of Tokyo, Where the fast neutron source reactor ''YAYOI'' is in operation since 1971. The primary objective of this accelerator is to combine it with YAYOI to perform the pulse operation of the reactor. This report describes on the design and construction of the accelerator and its operational characteristics including the results of pulse measurement. Special emphasis is placed on the generation of pico-second pulses and the measured characteristics for both steady and transient modes. Many attached experimental facilities and their application fields are also explained. (Aoki, K.)
