Description
The present status of the studies in certain areas of heavy ion induced fusion-fission reactions of heavy fissile targets is reviewed here. The recently observed anomalous features in fission fragment angular distributions and fission timescales are discussed, and interpreted on the basis of dynamical trajectors, model calculations, involving shape and energy equilibriation in the fusion-fission process. Some of the very recent results on the spin distributions of fission fragment at near barrier energies and their implications on the dynamics of the fusion-fission process are presented. (author)
