High brightness mass spectrometer and appropriate for simultaneous multiple detection
Description
Between the electrostatic and magnetic sectors of a mass spectrometer is provided a quadrupole, which applies to the magnetic sector parallel beams, whose inclination depends on particle energy dispersion. A slit lens corrects the quadrupole divergence in the perpendicular plane. A convenient relation between the angle of the entry face of the magnetic sector and the deviation angle allows to correct its aperture own second-order aberrations. The chromatic aberrations can be corrected with the help of an hexapole. Another hexapole allows correction of second order aperture aberrations related to the electrostatic sector

Entre le secteur electrostatique et le secteur magnetique d'un spectrometre de masse, est prevu un quadripole qui applique au secteur magnetique des faisceaux paralleles, dont l'inclinaison depend de la dispersion energetique des particules. Une lentille a fentes corrige la divergence du quadripole dans le plan perpendiculaire. Une relation convenable entre l'angle de la face d'entree du secteur magnetique et l'angle de deviation qu'il procure permet de corriger ses propres aberrations d'ouverture du second ordre. Les aberrations chromatiques peuvent etre corrigees a l'aide d'un hexapole centre sur le foyer du quadripole. Un autre hexapole place en amont du secteur electrostatique au niveau d'une striction (non visible) en section verticale, permet la correction des aberrations d'ouverture du second ordre liees au secteur electrostatiqueAdditional details
