Full text: Measurement of the temperature at various locations (circumferential and axial) of the pressure tube and calandria tube is required in the channel heatup experiments simulating pressure tube (PT) sagging and ballooning phenomena during a severe accident of Indian pressurised heavy water reactors (IPHWRs). The thermocouple (T/C) is one kind of measurement device which can be fixed on the surface of interest to measure temperature transients. This paper discusses different techniques for fixing the thermocouples and the performance of the thermocouple for one such fixing technique
